Re: Program Flow and timing

I for one am very interested in the story that setting the GPIO level high before the inner loop doesn't set the output signal high but the same code in the inner loop does. If it were me, I'd try writing the same app in ESP-IDF and see if the scenario changes. That will tell us if we are looking at...

Re: What's the best method of communication for my project

If there were some challenges in connecting an ESP32 using both WiFi and BLE at the same time, based on your story, you could choose one of those technologies and use it for all your communications. For example, if you choose WiFi between your phone and master, then you could use WiFi between master...

Re: What's the advantage of SigmaDelta?

Have you considered using the Digital to Analog technology described here:

Re: Task watchdog issue

Here is a link to a recent video on Watchdog processing. Let's see if this answers some of the questions.

Re: Not understanding OTA walk-through

This function appears to be documented here: https://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api-reference/system/esp_https_ota.html If we think about OTA at a high level, its purpose in life is to obtain a new binary image, write that binary image into an area of flash, flag that flash as the source of pr...

Re: challenging task (Benchmak)

Have you followed the recipes described in the getting started section here: https://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/get-started/index.html Are you able to build a sample ESP32 ESP-IDF application? Maybe if we can find a problem building an arbitrary app from these instructions we might spot someth...

Re: OTA and the otadata partition

It is my understanding that esp_ota_write maintains its state. We perform an esp_ota_begin() to begin the work, multiple esp_ota_write() to write the data and then esp_ota_end() to indicate a conclusion. The function esp_ota_set_boot_partition() identifies the partition that we desire to boot from o...

Re: challenging task (Benchmak)

I spent a couple of minutes looking at the source and it seems to be vanilla C. What that means is that it should be able to be compiled and run quite easily. What I recommend you do is become familiar with the ESP-IDF and its associated build tools. You should then be able to create a "normal&...

Re: http request over ethernet

Howdy my friend, Can you provide the link to the sample you are looking at? Can I confirm that you want to send an HTTP request to an HTTP Server as opposed to an HTTP server running on the ESP32 sending a request somewhere else? At the highest level, the networking subsystem at the low levels takes...

Re: Component.mk

I think the notion of the "component" file structure is that each directory under components is a self contained unit of "function" that will be compiled and linked with your application. If you have a component called "X" do you really mean to say that you have "n...
