Re: Pinning (std::)threads to cores

Thanks for the feedback. I'll post these things on GitHub going forward. In my framework I've got a Task which does all the work for me. Without that it would get a bit fiddly, as you say. I wouldn't mind seeing an idf::thread taking name, stack and priority as arguments, but that would introduce C+...

Re: Pinning (std::)threads to cores

A followup to the above; would it be possible to add the name of the task to the esp_pthread_cfg_t structure too? It'd be a ESP-specific feature, but it'd help greatly debugging this particular error message as there are numerous 'pthread' tasks: ***ERROR*** A stack overflow in task pthread has been...

Re: Driving and protecting 4 RGB LEDs

Drive each LEDs with a transistor and a current limiting resistor on the positive side in series with the LED. That way the resistor will be the protection if the LED is shorted. (This is no different from what you'd have to do to drive the LEDs in the normal case) What's the application, it sounds ...

Pinning (std::)threads to cores

We can currently set the stack size for a std::thread like this, thanks to the esp-additions to pthread and the fact that std::thread are built upon pthreads. esp_pthread_cfg_t worker_config{}; worker_config.stack_size = 1234; worker_config.prio = 1234; esp_pthread_set_cfg(&worker_config); worker = ...

Re: wrover windows JATG debug issues (wiring and schematics)

ok, my hardware is using MMC SD card. so it shares pins with JTAG. I can debug without mouting SD card in my code.. still does not debug using olimex arm-usb-ocd-h openocd Can you share command line for openocd . where can i get download binaries and cfg and other files i need to start openocd via ...

Re: wrover windows JATG debug issues (wiring and schematics)

Espressif's own schematics show all that's needed. I'm using SD Card in SPI mode while debugging - MMC can't be used since it shares the pins with JTAG. Command line only (I build and test most code on Linux to avoid debugging on target).

I have not tried the Wrover kit v4.

Re: wrover windows JATG debug issues (wiring and schematics)

I tried so much to get that very same Olimex device to work, but gave up. I'm now using Wrover Kit v3 (+ a custom beak out board) for debugging and program loading. It just works.

Assuming you don't have any USB cables attached, I'd say leak current through U1.

Re: Compatibility between "normal CMake" and ESP-IDF

The second reason is practical one: we have not yet seen significant use cases for which having a standalone toolchain is important. If you have some use cases (other than producing an elf file which, as you say, is useless on its own), please let us know. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone when it c...
