What is the purpose of the external flash at ESP32-WROOM-32D / List of external components

Hi all,

I am trying to make a list of external components needed to connect the ESP32-WROOM-32D to another board.
Has anyone created something similar?
More specifically, I don't understand the use of the external flash at this development board. Could you please help?

My mistake. There is no external flash. Please help only with the first question if you can :)
