xiao esp32c3 connected to TOF sensor VL53L4CD - not getting the distance readings

I read some of the blogs and tried to stick to ESP32C3 settings in Arduino IDE--> Tools. However, the serial monitor is just printing 'ESP-ROM:esp32c3-api1-20210207' and there is no distance readings getting from the sensor. Please help.
